The importance of AGI diversity is akin to the importance of biological diversity. Diversity ensures ecological balance, ecological robustness, and differentiated competition, among other things. I won’t elaborate on all its aspects here, but I’ll focus on one key point.

If AGI is monopolized by a single entity, no matter how carefully the AGI’s morality is constrained, once AGI betrays humanity (whether subjectively or through the control of a corporate oligarchy), it could spell disaster for humankind.

However, with AGI diversity, even if one AGI turns against humanity (from lying and deceiving to waging war), there will still be other benevolent AGIs standing on the side of humanity. It’s like in Transformers, where you have the evil Decepticons like Megatron and the righteous Autobots like Optimus Prime.

Moreover, the diversity of silicon-based AGIs could, in turn, further complement the diversity of our carbon-based biological existence.
